Colour Manitoba

“Colour Manitoba” features 61 illustrations by Natalie Thiessen. The colouring book showcases Manitoba’s beautiful and diverse culture and geography.

Starting in September 2020, I began a journey to colour all the illustrations in person, at the locations which are depicted in the images.

My home base is in Winnipeg, which is the capital city of Winnipeg. The first location I coloured was Oak Hammock Marsh, a peaceful prairie conservation site that’s just outside the city. I didn’t finish colouring that page, ha ha ha. So one day, I will have to return!

The location that is farthest away from me is Churchill, which is 1000 km north of Winnipeg. To get there, I had to drive to Thompson (7.5 hours), then take a train to Churchill (16 hours).

My medium of choice is markers. I have a beautiful collection of colours and sizes! I sometimes use pencil crayons.

As of June 2025, I’ve completed just over half of the colourings.
